The catheter consists of a long piece of transparent tubing with a closed tip containing 2 holes (known also as ‘eyes’) and a deflated balloon at one end and 3 connectors at the other. 2 of the connectors are simple ports and the other is a non-return valve.

Method of use
Used following urological surgery in order to prevent blood clotting and maintain fluid flow from the bladder. The catheter is inserted into the bladder via the urethra and the ballon inflated (using a syringe of sterile water into the non-return valve) to keep the catheter in place. The second connector is attached to the irrigation fluid bag. The irrigation fluid enters the catheter, flows through the tube into the bladder and any drained fluid flows back down the catheter. Drained fluid is collected in a 3L drainage bag which is attached to the third connector at the end of the catheter.
